i think the motherboard for the intel integrated graphics and the mobo for dedicated graphics like the x1400 are different, so unfortunately if you got the intel integrated graphics, you cant upgrade to anything better... someone correct...
Well, with the whole sticking out thing, it depends on the laptop. For the E1505, the 9 cell battery is the same size, just a little bit heavier. As far as temperatures go, I haven't noticed a difference.
I also think the sxga+ tl screen is one of the best screens I've ever had. I know what you mean by the line thing, but I have to look at it really really closely to really see it since its not like I look at the screen that close...

The gain would be relatively minimal. The only major benefit I can see is possible BF2 would load and run smoother with 2gb of ram. There would be an increase, but don't expect it to be enough to bump up the settings that much.
