Is the integrated wireless network card for the 5660 compatible with the 'airport' system which Apple uses (before they swithed to 802.11g of course.)

On the 5660, what does the infared sensor do exactly? I assume that on the 8887 it's to receive the remote control signal so does that mean there is a third party remote to run the 5660? What kind of functions does it have? Where...
