I'm using an external optical mouse, and the fan doesn't really bother me that much, mainly because it's at the rear right end of the notebook, and I use my mouse a bit further away from it and towards the front more, so I seldom if ever...
The Go7600 and x1600 is in the same performance class, you won't notice too much real world performance difference. Some games are optimized for ATI and some for NVidia so you'll see one perform better than the other in certain...
They already have a few BIOS' that have Merom support such as the V6J and W7J I believe... so they're already out, probably other models to follow soon.
The W7J already has a 9 cell available, but it does stick out the back a bit and wobbles I heard. Should get about 4 -5 hours with the 9 cell. The default battery gets only an average of 2.5 hours or so... And it also has 512MB memory...
