the problem i see with upggrading to a hd 2600xt is that, the core and memory modules might be in diffrent spots, so it would need a slightly diffrent heat sink.

Happens with most gateway laptops, gatway is swiching the palm rests to stienless steel so it dosnt happen anymore.

If i remeber right, go 7900gtx is direct x 9.0c. And my current laptop(w/ go 7600) is able to handle sumpreme commander at max w/ native res.
