To QHN, I have re-registered the DLL's and it is updating fine now. Thanks so much for that. I also found out the Background Intelligent Transfer Service was stopped, must have been like that when I bought the laptop as I have never heard of this. I started this service, but it wouldnt use the windows update until I re-registered the DLL's. Thnx again for your help. Sara.
