I would say w/ a wuxga screen and with newer games yes......
It all really depends on the setting and FPS you can tolerate....some people must have high settings and FPS in the 70's.......others are ok on medium and FPS in the 40's
one could infer as much as this program tells you by looking at the recommended specs for the game.....granted you don't get the cool little animation.
A lot of batteries die around the 1 year mark, most are warrantied for 1 year....you'll see a lot die right after the 1 year warranty expires, it sucks but that's life.
I can't tell you much about your LCD problems, post some pictures...
