i believe that you need to have a DVI to ADC adapter....at least thats what i needed for my 17" PowerBook G4 that had a DVI port on it....a quick google provided this link: http://www.dviator.com/us/index.html

i believe that it also depends on where you got your copy of winxp home....say it came with a dell....the cd is made in such a way that it checks your bios before letting you install...if it is anything other than a dell, it wont allow...

though i havent received my 8890 yet, i seem to recall from a maintenace manual that it is a standard minipci device...should be able to be swapped out with ease...only thing to be careful with would be the location of the antenna...
