Despite the fact that I spent a grand on my vaio SZ 3 years ago I'm too much of a cheap and scummy student to spend a further £140 on a replacement battery for my laptop. Are the cheapish batteries that show up on eBay and other sites...
I can't be bothered explaining in detail but a cas latency of 5 on 667MHz RAM is the same actual time delay as a cas latency of 4 on 667MHz RAM. Basicly CAS latency is measured in ram clock cycles, not real time, so that's why the...
I heard that 7200rpm hard drives use more power and therefore have a negative effect on battery life. I don't think they'd be a significant plus point for a notebook. But yeah, I was wanting to get an XPS m1210 but Dell charge far too...
I'm thinking about getting this laptop but I've not actually seen any real pictures. Has anyone got one and is willing to post photos? Thanks
It's at times like this that I hate being British. I wish I knew someone in America who I could have it delivered to and then ship it here for me. Even if I got import taxed it'd still probably be cheaper!
From what I can tell from the paper specs here is the advantages of each over the other: Dell m1210: Cheaper, comes with 1GB RAM on even the cheapest model, TV out, more USB ports. Sony SZ: Larger screen, lighter, thinner, looks...
You'll get it way cheaper in America, trust me. Based on prices of other Dell laptops I can see it being around $1000. For example, the Inspiron 640m costs a minimum of £590 in the UK, which converts to at least $1000.
Asus are coming out with a 13.3" model soon, called the W7J, which has similar specs to the m1210 but a slightly larger screen. Not yet sure about pricing.
Hard drive space > small CPU speed upgrade. Seriously, it's unlikely that you'll notice the CPU speed bump other than in benchmarks.
I'm also looking forward to it a lot. I really hope it comes out for under a grand in the UK, otherwise I'll be carrying out my fallback plan of getting a 640m.
