the m1710 is the XPS version of the e1705... literally the same chasis (different colors) and takes the same hardware but has higher end parts. It is better than the 1720 and the 1730 with the 8700GT (but maybe not the 1730 with 8700 GT...

It really depends on the size of the hard drive, speed of the processor, and whether or not it is still under warranty. I would say it probably falls in the $500-$800 region, depending on those 3 things I just mentioned.
