The reason you dont see 768 much is because most of the newer systems use dual channel ram. You have to have 2 dimms of the same size to run dual channel.

Put in your Intel PRO wireless cd, and go to winxp and run setupWLD.exe. Should fix your problem. For about an hour after i intalled XP on my 3790 i thought they forgot to install the wireless card.
