Ok I installed i9kfangui and its reporting the following temps while browsing the web:
Video card: 57
Hard drive: 43
North Bridge: 48
Are these too high? The battery light is again flashing during these temps.
My battery light is flashing every 5 seconds now which I read in the manual means my laptop is overheating (is this correct?). This is happing a lot now after it has been switched on for 10min and sitting idle. The underside of it does not feel warm at all so I don't know what is causing it.
The laptop itself is a Dell Inspiron 8600 and over 2 years old now so its out of warranty.
Any advice with what could be causing it to warn me its overheating when it does not...
Hey, sorry if this has been asked many times before or if this is the wrong place.
My Dell Inspiron 8600 is now locked on Region 2 and I need to change it to Region 1. I have used up the 5 times I can change it.
Is there a way around this? Amazon today delivered a region 1 DVD and I am wanting to watch it.
I have had my 8600 for over a month now problem free but the past few days I have been getting this odd problem. When I try to turn it on all the lights would come on (the 3 above the keyboard and the power light) for a few seconds then they would all turn off and the 8600 does not boot. It would normally take 2 or 3 attempts before it turns on.
I am using the A08 bios and my hard drive was replaced 2 weeks ago, but like I said this problem has only just...
Loving my 8600 so far (apart from the wrong hd ) but I have one problem.
After 5min when the screen switches off it also disconnects from my wireless network, which in turn causes all my downloads running to stop. I have told it not to go into suspend mode but just turn the screen off, but it still disconnects from the network.
How do I stop it from doing this?
Yeah but I have already paid extra for the 7200rpm from Dell, so its not like it was a free upgrade they have messed up.
Really annoying as I can't install any programs and set them up as it will be a waste of time.
Cheers guys I did that. Found out it was the Hitachi notebook hd at 4200rpm.
This has really pissed me off. Start of April I ordered a 8600 from Dell, I asked at the time for a 7200rpm but told it was not possible. After a few days I find out it is possible so I phoned up and changed my order. Was then delayed by 2 weeks
Now I finally get it and its the wrong drive Already been offered £100 due to the delay. But I did not get my mp3 player I was told I was getting....
Finally got my Dell 8600 and very happy with it so far. But I have just looked over my invoice and saw something worrying
I ordered a 60gb 7200rpm, I made sure on my sales invoice that this was ordered. But I have just looked at the Packing Slip invoice that came in the box and it says:
4.2k, which I guess means 4200rpm.
I phoned up Dell asking if there was a way to find out the hard drive speed but he said no. He is...
