Sometimes you're logged out (at startup time) so you have a choice to login both ways. Some other times your screen is locked or you resumed from suspend so you're already logged in?

Are you sure you have an LG screen? Sometimes what they think you have and what you really have are 2 different things... I have gone through hell getting my XPS 700 replaced because in their system it showed up as an XPS 710.

Is your external drive formatted in NTFS or FAT32? Is there still a 4 gig limit in fat32 for filesize?
