I seem to recall reading a thread with a similar problem. The guy booted up a linux live cd and changed powersaving modes with hdparm. It fixed his problem.

So I'm moving my e1505 drive to my e1705. I had Half Life 2 installed on the e1505. If I reformat everything, will I screw my key up preventing me from playing on the 1705? Is the only way to reset the key still to send the disks...
