Save profiles in ATITool, and load different profiles for when you need them. I run mine underclocked when not in use, overclocked when in use. I have an overclock of 425/800 for 1V, 625/800 for the 1.24V overvolt.

If you're using Windows, you can just use ATITool and create two profiles, one with underclocked 3D clocks for normal use, and another with normal or overclocked clocks for when you need the power.
