Since the new R600 will migrate to 65nm (almost) right away I hope there will be an alternative to NV all the time.

What does Quickset actually add to the system that's so vital? Powerschemes are set by lots of other programs and LED's too. Does it control the Subwoofer? I hear Vista doesn't like the Subwoofer on M170's.

Doesn't it idle at high temps because it stays at performance 3D? I ususually set it manually to Maximum power saving if I don't game and that works just fine to keep temps low.

That would be the next step... to make a M170 recognize the 7900GTX. He'd either have to make the 7900GTX look like a 7800GTX so the stock laptop bios will accept it, or he has to hack the laptop bios which is a whole different kettle of...
