Wouldn't you just use the nVidia unified driver?
When XP is installed it registers the hardware configuration with Microsoft. If you try to use that license key on another system, it won't let you.
Definitely go with a new hard drive, 5400rpm at a minimum. If you're doing more gaming and aren't as concerned about battery life a 7200rpm might be a better choice to reduce load times.

EM radiation drops off as 1/(d^2). So by doubling your distance, you're reducing the amount of exposure by a factor of 4. Radio is non-ionizing radiation, so you don't have the fun mutation danger you get of ionizing radiation...
