Interlaced 1920 x 1080 requires less bandwidth than 1600 x 1200 @ 60hz. I think ATI will support 1080i natively with the right adapter.
As Dell has changed the screens on the i8600 over the course of its lifetime, I don't know how one can state they are the same. I think a better pic would be of an i8600 next to an i6000 with the same rez screen.

Have you tried running any WMVHD files on it yet? The 1080 version of Step Into Liquid seems to be one of the most difficult to play without stuttering.
