You could try "action" called "custom rgb to grayscale". It's not actually what you are looking for, but has good control over different chanels in changing to b&w. I understand what you mean, but I don't get it...

I'll backup my files to another HDD, and format the main one. I'll see during the summer if I need/want to leave the quickplay partition. It's a work computer, so the extra GB is probably more valuable than ability to play movies before...

I have some video editing that has to be ready ASAP, after I get the notebook. I'll finnish that project and maybe in the autumn I'll reinstal xp. I can't take the risk that the editing might be delayed because problems in reinstalling....

HP has only 1.6ghz turion x2 at the moment(TL-60 in business notebook though, but it's too expensive), and I can only wait for 2 weeks.

1. If you are planning to upgrade to merom later, just get the 1.66Ghz processor now. There won't be that significant increase in performance. But, it's not yet known if HP will give Bios update for Core 2 Duo.

I must choose a HP/Compaq laptop, because there's a HP employee in the family (about 15% discount). And, I have to buy it very latest in early July. So, at the moment my options are V3000z with Turion x2 TL-52, NVIDIA Go 6150 and...
