I had the same problem. Are you using MobiMeter?? I re-installed my PC at least 5 times before I realised it was MobiMeter that was causing the lock-ups. Now I just don't install MobiMeter. 8790 is working fine now. :L:

xvid??? I'm suspecting a virus was installed when and if you installed the XviD codecs. Otherwise I'm at a lost. You could try re-installing Service Pack 1a or 2 which ever one is installed. :L:

Another thing to check is to make sure you have it selected on Always On under the Power Options in Control Panel. And obviously make sure it's plugged in. :L:
