Does it have a battery? Check that the vents aren't covered and that the fan is still spinning inside the laptop. If it has a battery and still shuts off then it might be the mobo.
4200 is really slow, but better for battery life. For better performance use a 5400 to 7200 HDD. You can also go with a solid state HDD. They are cheaper now and offer better performance than the regular HDD, plus better battery life....
Please state your OS, HDD & Processor Speed.
We ordered about 20 of these 2 yrs ago and we've had issues with the mobo. You might want to get ext. warranty or what not.

Check your HDD. I have a Lenovo running on 256mb and it runs Ubuntu at a good speed.
Always get insurance with purchases like that. It's worth it. I always liked the Alienware, but not enough to shell the $$$$$$...$$$$$ for them. I'd stick to Dell and Lenovo. Both are known for their warranty and Lenovo/IBM for...
Look on eBay for the mobo. They might have it for cheap. That could save you $$$ However, laptops are at an all time low in price here in the states. So you might want to consider that as an option.
