The 3+ year old Apple 17in Studio LCD display I am sitting infront of right now looks better in terms of light leakage and overall backlight quality then the dells does and that is why i am asking for the replacment panel pretty much....

Well this panel is bright and sharp ill give it that but in addtion to the backlight leakage the lighting overall is rather uneven. Also there is actuly a 1/2in strip of higher brightness showing up across the bottom of the screen...

Well I have the system here now. Only have one thing bad to say so far, but it is one of the things I was afraid of.. Backlight leakage Have put in a service call to get a replacement LCD panel, am not sure what good it will do...

The 1200 isnt to bad as long as you can get some discount on it via coupons or something, however id look at Acer and HP/Compaq as they have a pretty good range of budget machines and in HP's case the build quality for even the lower end...

I have a A6K on the way.. got it for a very good price indeed on ebay, seems to be a very nice machine indeed apart from the slow HD, but with the money i save from getting it on ebay ill be able to fix that
