There's always something better around the corner. If you wait for it, you will never get a machine. (look at my sig.) I think in general you can count on a couple years of good performance. As time goes on, you will have to lower...
Wow, that's really impressive. The M17 is shaping up to be quite a compelling machine.
Nobody knows much about the M17 yet. I imagine the 3870s in sli (oops Cross-Fire) will probably give you pretty good performance. But i don't think it's as good as one 9800 GTX. I'm hoping the M17 will get an upgrade to the 48xx cards...
I don't know. That offer to simply pick out a new system sounds pretty good to me. I know the m7700s were crap, but like HammerHead said, it had more to do with the platform than AW. My brother-in-law got a 9750 and it's been great...
That's really sharp. I wish the asus G series would offer one with a top of the line GPU though.
me too. I've been eyeing up the m15x for a while, but the sager 8660 and 5796 look really attractive compared to it. No light up keyboards, but montineva and a gigabyte 9800!
i'm a fan of the WUXGA resolution. I recently got a Precision m4300 for work. It's also a 15.4 1920x1200 screen. At first i wondered if it was too small, a week later, and i don't know why i ever though 1680x1050 was enough real estate.
i think that kind of communication is a double edged sword to them. They probably don't want you to buy a sager, but they don't want people to stop buying their current offerings because they know the 17x will be out in X months, or...
i'm in a similar situation except i'm trying to decide between the m15x and the 5792/3. on the one hand, the aw has the keyboard. It's not just glitz, a backlit keyboard is useful. It's got the mobile switch. I've had great experiences...
i'd get the 1920x1200. I do alot of work in visual studio, gimp, and blender. I find i don't like anything less than 1680x1050. For gaming, i have to turn the resolution down. I just wish the m15x had a 1680x1050 option.
