Either kudzu or something else is causing this. If you go into single user mode, you should be able to modify /etc/rc.sysinit and search for ieee. Comment out any associated lines, and try again. Also, you could disable kudzu on startup...

So regardless of what application I've used, I still don't have sound when playing DVDs. Avi's work fine, TV works fine, just not DVDs. I'm going to play around with mplayer's alsa support, alsa modules, etc. Something's just amiss.
