We are having problems downloading files in particular. She had tried to download AIM (don't ask) and is wants to save it as an .xls file. Xpod it calls a .doc file. There are other questions too. Thanks for the link.
I just bought my girlfriend a 13" Mac Book for Christmas. She and I are both fluent PC users and so far this thing is totally foreign. We both thought it would be perfectly intuitive like everyone claims but maybe we are so ingrained in the PC rut we can't see the simple stuff. Does anyone know of a good site where a long time PCer can go to get up to speed on the Mac?
I did a clean install the instant I got it and have done everything I know to do as far as getting the computer to run as efficently as possible. I use "End It All" to reduce running processes and am running the most recent drivers I can find. Others on flightsim.com have similar complaints. The CPU truly is the bottleneck.
I have a Dell XPS 1710 (search my past posts for why I got it instead of the 9700) but it is similarly speced out. I am finding that my processor is the backup when things start to bog down. With most sliders in the middle but some down or off completely I can get around 25 FPS, but when I bank hard or pan around the cockpit or get into a high density city it can drop to 10-15 becoming alot like a slideshow.
I specifically had FSX in mind when getting the new puter but...
Monday I wrote AW the following:
It has now been 40 day since I placed my order for an Aurora m9700 laptop
through your website, and 20 day since the original date I was given for it
to be shipped. As of today my order is still in phase 3, meaning you have
yet to even begin building it! After placing a phone call to customer
support this morning I was informed that after 40 days my optical drive is
not available and that it is not known when the drive will be...
Still in Phase 3. AW just informed me that everything is in except for the optical drive, which is on back order. They don't know when that is going to be in.
Funny that Salec ordered his after I ordered mine with the same drive, but his is on the truck.

I wish I was told the same thing, than I would have said nevermind. Unfortunatly the sales dept. was not on top of this when I called. This is one of the things that has lead to my frustration. So far the only reason I have to believe that the Airgo card is...
