Thought I would post back quickly to say that I got it working. Used the Intel Wireless 3945abg from Intel's site and that worked. I was actually going to try the 2430 drivers but i couldnt get back on the site to pull down the drivers...

My sister just purchased this as shes heading back to school, the same model you mentioned and it actually does have bluetooth but as you mention not the others. Its actually a pretty decent notebook for the price!

yes the volume knob does work for other sound and it is up on full when I have been trying this. I am just surprised toshiba would intergrate a modem that has no speaker volume, that would have to be a first as all previous machines have...

anyone have any ideas?

Hello all, A100 with xp sp2, toshiba modem driver installed, modem properties has the modem speaker volume at full, sound properties has master volume and wav volumes at full, dialup connection is configured to with modem speaker...
