u may have installed a clean windows copy on a different partition form what the original windows has been installed on. i recommend that u delete then format both partitions usind the winxp pro cd and installing a new copy of xp.

yes it is part of the acer empowering technology i removed it from add or remove... i had noticed that when i removed it i had the cpu speed to maximumand since i have dual core it heated up, so i reinstalled the program and decreased it...

my laptop is an 8x speed and when i insert a dvd to write on it it is eithe 2x or 2.5x... that is the dvd-r and dvd+r which are 4x. But then i used a dvd+ that is 8X ...... where my dvd writer writes at 8x... so i think it depends on the...
