I'd like to know when it'll be available as well. And will the V1J have an MXM slot? These seem to be a further progression towards Intel's whitebox laptop dream, so I'm hoping the components are more easily swappable than the current...

If you can afford an nc8430, it looks like a good one. I think the only negative is it didn't have an ExpressCard slot the last time I looked at it and you're stuck w/ Windows even if you use Linux...

BTW, did you get the 1680x1050 screen or the 1200x800 screen? I've been trying to figure out if the hi-res screen will make things to tiny on a 15" screen, but no local retailers seem to carry any 15" laptop w/ that...

How does the keyboard of the Asus Z96J compare to the Thinkpad T60 and HP dv2000t? I haven't seen anyone mention this but got curious after I saw a dv2000t reviewer mention that it was the best keyboard he's tried after the Thinkpad...

less bandwidth, but if given the choice, I'd get 1 stick so you can upgrade it later...otherwise, you throw both out; I haven't seen any retailers that give you a choice...they all give you 2x512MB :-P

Thanks for putting it up Ken. Two quick negatives: only 2GB support (2 SODIMM slots) and PCMCIA slot instead of ExpressCard (although you could argue there are more PCMCIA cards at the moment). No idea how their warranty works (stuck...
