Gideon, try and make a slipstream disk so XP installs with SP2 already on it. Thats what I did. Google it and you will find out how.

No it is RTM. I have no problems with XP SP2 on my 8790 other than the modem driver service stopping on boot. But I dont use the modem. I still hate that error in the Event log though.

Check your Event log for anything about the SmartlinkService. Let me know if you see anything.

Yes but they are related to certain drivers I have on machine. I am doing a fresh install tonight with a slipstreamed xp sp2 cd. I will let you know how it goes.

Dang...I wonder why it is having probs for me...I guess I need to do a full system re-install sometime soon.

Quick Note: Windows XP SP2 dosnt like these drivers, at least on my 8790. The service fails right at boot time.

Just ran it on my 8790. Runs fine if you tweak the settings right.
