GMA950 and non-integrated motherboard uses different chipsets. I believe E1705 with GMA9x0 uses i945GM, while all other non-integrated uses i945PM which has a MXM(PCIe) connector

use Microsoft Bootvis and check which device driver/service takes a lot of time to start.

I tried the driver. It works perfectly! The only suggestion is DON'T use Intel installer. Go to Device Manager, right click Sigmatel HD Audio Codec, and select upgrade driver. Intel installer gave me "unknown error".

I would say 512MB memory is quite low. If you are aiming for future-proof you should select 1GB at least
