Take a flashlight and shine it on your screen after the laptop boots. My laptop did the same thing and I could see the screen with a flashlight. AW sent a part for the monitor lighting and all was ok.
I had a similar problem Tech support had me remove and reistall the battery. That solved my problem However i dont recall any clicking. It appreared that the battery jarred lose during shipping.

I have exactly the same problem and have tried various drivers as well. The sound is overall very poor. However I hope that it will eventually be resolved.
Sounds Like the mother board to me. Doesnt take much to go bad I have had them act up with reboots and errors and eventually just stop all together.
I am in the market for a replacement laptop. Currently i am using a Dell 8500 with a dockingstation. I am very intrested in alienware but notice they do not seem to have a dock for any of their laptops. Is there an plans to offer this...
just pulled my I9100 out of the box today (after the ups man was so kind to drop it off) powered up and installed and ran 3dmark 03 with a score of 3131. not bad for out of the box I9100 3.0, 512 meg,64 mb ati, 60 gb 7200 rpm
