Well anything that has a Core 2 Duo or Turion X2 CPU with at LEAST 1GB ram and a X1600 and above Video card then you will not have any problems.

Have you tried Fear:Combat ? Its free to download and to play Multi-player if you are looking for shooters. As for Strategies yeah Supreme commander is definately worth it. So is StarCarft still.....

Its a well thought idea but there is a downside to that. For example people who have bigger fingers (yeah i know no need to laugh) can have frustrations because if the resolution is high on the laptop they need to be more precise. Also...
