As for your sister, how about the Sony C Series? It does have a 13.3" screen but can be configured to the specs you want. Gets 3-4hrs of battery life. Sony claims up to 4.5. But the HGL30 as posted by milestone is also quite a good...

I think Windows Xp should have integrated SATA drivers. I'd also like to see the touchpad.
Your not going to be able to overclock via BIOS on most notebooks. You could look into some software to help you overclock your CPU some... I think thats your only option right now...
