Thats the page that got me thinking about the swap. It's the same socket and all, just don't know how the bios would come into play on such a swap. Hope some one will know or even maybe that has done this, thanks a lot

I have a Gateway Mx6446 laptop with Turion MK 36 processor.Since its socket S1 and the AMD Turion 64 X2 is also a socket S1 is there any chance to swap a 64 x 2 in place of the MK 36. thanks

Yes I have reseating H.D. and tried a diffrent one also and i have also tries reseating ram. It goes to gateway screen at post and shuts off.

Just added the above harddrive to my MX6446 like I did in my wifes, also upgraded the ram from 1.5 Gig to 2 Gig. on both. They fly, I timed my boot with stock drive and ram and XP media edition, 90 sec !! With the Seagate and 2 Gigs....

I installed the Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200 RPM 8MB harddrive in wifes laptop. I also installed XP pro instead of Xp Media center, boot time was cut by more than half. When opening programs its opens instantly, the laptop is very fast...
