i did the event viewer and nothing shows. if it was a hardware problem, wouldn't it of failed dell's diagnostic test or whatever its called?

well i phoned up dell, and they made me to all the diagnostic tools. every one of those tools passed. they sugguested that it was a OS problem and sugguest i format. do you guys think thats true/possible?
