Brothersoft has a free little program called 'Scanner' that lets you see your drive as a pie chart. I use it once in a while when I want to see what the 'space hogs' are.
A simple work around is to let it Hibernate then press F8 when you start it up again. That will allow you to do a full re-boot. FWIW Hibernate is a zero power consumption mode and coming out of Hibernate is a lot quicker than re-boot.
Probably. If it can read commercially pressed movies it can read dual layer. To make sure, I'd recommend using Verbatim +R DL disks and set the booktype to DVD-ROM. ImgBurn allows you to set the book type.
