Ok, so I got a new PSU after RMAing the bad one, and now I don't have any problems. Amazing how a bad unit can drive you crazy.
Funny thing is I put my old PSU in, and it works just like it did before, no random power off's, no powering off when I'm on the internet, or when playing games like WoW. So I'm thinking that I happened across a bad PSU.
I do monitor my temps, and the only time my computer did this with my last PSU was when I started a graphic intensive game, but could stay on for days with no problems. Now it shuts off on booting into windows, or when I'm on the...
No funny smells, and my computer is water cooled, so the only fans I have other the one on my radiator are the case fans. I was thinking that maybe the PSU is just bad, which would suck cause I spent the time putting it in lol.
I just upgraded my PSU from a antec 550w to a BFG 800w because I one couldn't overclock, and also because my computer would shut off after playing a game like overlord for only a few min. But now my computer will randomly shut off when...
Antec TP II 550, I thought about that to, but it's only overlord that does it, no other high end game that I have does it.
So, I got Overlord a while ago, and it's an awsome game, but it beat the hell out of my old setup, which had 2 7800 GTS's and a athlon 3500+. Now I have 2 8800GTS's and a athlon x2 5200+. When the game works right, it looks really perty....
I've had my dv9000t for about 7 months now, and about 2 weeks ago I was flashing the BIOS when I got a BSOD and fried the BIOS, so I e-mailed HP that day, and that day got a response asking for my shipping information, and the next day I...
Lol, I dunno why either, maybe I got lucky with mine.
You know whats funny about my 8790 right now is that it's still works after 3 years, but my new HP dv9000t after 7 months "bit the bullet", damn frying BIOS. I'd get rid of mine if it wasn't so damned reliable.
