i dunno mate about your laptop but this 604t of mine is a complete BOS so my suspicions are toward it.. mine worked slightly better once i upgraded the firmware .. but i have to reset the damn thing at least once a day

not all of the models have the bluetooth module under a hatch cover.. to get the bluetooth installed in my 1680 i'd have to take the entire thing to bits.. my 1522 is totally...
yup .. you have to watch out for that screw under the keyboard.. i nearly ripped my 1680 to bits cos i didn't know about it.. (its not mentioned in the manual)
do you have an external vga connector?? if you can connect up via that and you don't get the mess on a vga screen then that would suggest that the vga card is ok.. so it must be the invertor or the lcd.. and vice versa..
you might be able to get at the hidden using a linux bootable cd version.. depends.. also assuming of course that you have the expertise.. i reckon you should just junk the drive..
depending on your model.. your new hd may just slot...
well done for getting it working.. may i suggest that you do a search for the field service manual.. on the subject of bluetooth.. i once spent nearly an entire afternoon trying to acquire a module for my 1680 .. i gave up when a female...

just a quick idea.. check the jumper settings on the hard drive to make sure they are the same as the old one.. some of the laptop drive channels are quite picky and are hard wired in the bios about whether they're going to have master...
