The speakers do not power themselves. They have 280w of peak power. I found out later that was their peak. I also found out from Alienware that the m5750 only can hold up to 120w of external power, or something?

My speakers normally do 70w, with a peak w of 280. I have a receiver that does 50w per channel, since I don't run it very high and have bass and trebile at balanced mode, it hasn't blown the speakers (but, it does suck ).
