I just installed Ubuntu 6.10 on my Dell Inspiron 6400. Everything worked! But i did need to download Gnome Network Manager to get the wireless with WPA to work.
If i had that money, i would order a MacBook Pro.
It is one of the best laptop's i have ever seen, even better than the Dell XPS!!! (in my opinion)
You can run Windows aswell, if you need it.
