I FOUND the culprit to the strange drops in 3d video performance on the S170 with 9700 Radeon!!!!! Its a very wierd bug that took me several hours of testing.... here is my best explanation maybe someone can put it into more...
no idea how are u switching between omega and stock drivers? vaio recovery media doesnt allow specific driver install does it?
after installing omegadrivers you need to open display properties go to LCD-PANEL properties set it to scale to resolution but keep aspect ratio now it wont look fuzzy and distorted
