I had the same problem. I reinstalled the "dell" drivers that came off of my inspiron 9300 driver cd...the light stays on all the time now... 9.0.0.61 drivers..
my number is 30 and my hinge cracked.....what's up with that?

I personally don't think emachines will do anything about this issue....they are gonna lose waaaay too much money. I know it sux to say but I think it's the honest truth. I just got my RMA box in but I think they are gonna get it and...
I agree. I just wonder why some emachines tech people say they've never heard of this problem....I'm sure they're getting swamped with calls/emails
I was issued an RMA but I'm kinda concerned now because my screen is PERFECT (pixel wise). Do you HAVE to send it in once an RMA is issued?
that is if they let you return it....some people have said that emachines considers it a cosmetic issue and will do nothing about it. I wonder what is cosmetic about a moving part....
I know this for a fact. ALL of the hinges in the m680X series are going to crack sooner or later. I don't know how or if emachines will permanantly fix the problem. We can only keep our fingers crossed.
