The thing is the 7k200 model is a 16meg cache 7200rpm drive. There would be no need to use a desktop drive since from what I have read it is as fast or nearly as fast and still is a notebook drive.

Still a little sketchy, just looked up the service tag and it does say specifically SATA and not PATA. I just dont feel confident about making the purchase. Anyone know a little more about the HD's for the e1705's?
