i got it to work by showing the pc speaker volume (like posted earlier) and setting it to mute. Normal audio still works, but that horrible beep is silent now. It seemed to be just as loud even on the lowest volume setting too so mute...

It does seem to be the focus since mine work with iTunes, but only when it has focus. I assume the other apps are the same way.
