rdms - According to post #4 - it seems you do have the SHytachi drive. But, if everything else works fine (other than using the wrong type DVDs), I guess you got lucky.

Ok, thanks y'all! I got my NEC drive and installed it yesterday. I was actually able to burn some CDs! Crappy Hitachi! How can they ship these out knowing they don't work? But...still couldn't play any DVDs. At least it didn't...
