That may be, but I found with XP oem disks that I could not partition to my liking. Read the saga here: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=102328 That's why I always reinstall clean.
Just to follow up, my new lappy is a HP with a shiny finish that looks like it will not rub off; no more Sonys for me, ever.
Yes, me too, eventually re-covered it with a carbonfibre lookalike plastic and never bought another Sony! In fact, just bought a new HP, and happy with it.
