As the 8790's don't use pentium 4 mobile chips or centrino chips, speedswitch I'm guessing would be pointless? I used to use it on my Dell 8500 which had a mobile P4. Worked very well I recall. Dom

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the WXGA screen. I had a Dell 8500 previous to my QTi (Sager 8790 equiv.) with 1680x1080 screen, and it was just too small to read things properly - even when increasing the dpi... and increasing dpi...
Any idea if this BIOS update would work on the UK version? Although I've been told by the people I bought the lappy from that the BIOS in mine is currently *newer* than the one you guys have, it sounds very much like the one you had...
I have both a lappy and desktop too (plus of course soon to have a new lappy)... I tend to use my lappy for my web design business and stuff, and my desktop for playing games. I guess I will soon be in the same position as you when...
I find Halo on the PC to be really rough around the edges. The game is best on the Xbox if you ask me. On the PC it just seems rather poorly optimised, and the higher the resolution you use, the more you can see how dated the textures...
It looks poor if you have fixed aspect scaling enabled on your GPU. However, if you use centered output you dont get stretching and it looks normal. You do get black bars though depending on what resolution you use.
I get it on my current lappy - Dell 8500. Usually when running on Battery. My Sager 8790-alike is coming on Saturday. Yippee!
It's odd that 128mb more memory doesn't make that big a difference. You would have thought having twice the memory the 9700 256mb version would at least be noticably faster.
