the missing ram is being shared with your video. that's how most non-gamer laptops are now.

then you're probably using the wrong type of ram. there is a difference betweeen ddr and ddr2. make sure you get the ram that is specified for your system. call toshiba and ask if you can't figure it out. the wrong ram can blow up...
