I once used a laptop where I have to clear my IE histroy and cache everytime before been able to enter windowsupdate. Maybe you could try this.

About the alps touchpad, one have to adjust its hover time and sensitivity, either directly in registry editor or using tweakuixp. I once tried adjusting the settings thru its own touchpad setting properties but with no help.

Try compro usb2 tvbox if it's available over there. I am using it on my i86k, pretty satisfy with the performance. I haven't seen the hauppage one in action, can't compare it.

Has anybody try to convert alps touchpad on i86k to the synaptics one?
