My 9300 with 128MB X300 works just fine under Vista. I don't game at all though. It works with Aero effect on. I have 2GB RAM, if I had to do it over, I would try for 3GB RAM. 2GB works just as well, but 3 is so cheap these days.
You definately do not want to use the onboard sound if you have a detailed heaphone with amp. It is bound to have a pretty high floor hiss my experience; plug in and you'll definately hear it. Have you considered headphone.com's custom...
Same here, last estimated ship date was Q2 this year. Plus last update said it would be OEM only. Anyway, I'm not too keen on dishing out $700, I mean, I could build an entire new computer for not much more and not have to attach/detach...
Do a Google search, there is someone that did a write up on an Asus G2S with such a chip OCed to 3.0 with benches. The chip is slated for a $850 price release.
