When I bought my 5690, I shipped UPS Express Air. For this, the customs brokerage is built into the shipping costs, so you don't have to pay for any extra on customs. What you DO have to pay for is GST (and PST if your province has PST)....

It's worth an email to ask, but I would doubt they would, since the LCD is quite a bit more delicate than a HDD, and to repace the LCD and "top housing" would be much more dissassembly/reassembly work than taking out the HDD.

Doesn't look like either will fit. Large would barely (exactly?) fit for length and width, however thickness... I measure a little under 2.5" at the back...
